Google Doodle today celebrates the 200th anniversary of British writer Charles Dikkensa.Doodle features characters from his literary works: Ebenezer Scrooge in Christmas Carol, and Pip from Great Expectations.
Unlike other Doodles which users news and search results, doodle brings advanced users to Google Books search results page, a list of popular novels of Dickens.
British author who created memorable images, like Oliver Twist and David Copperfield, has written several novels in his lifetime, including classics like A Tale of Two Cities, and Nicholas Nickleby. Most of his novels focus on the difficulties faced by poor and working class during the Industrial Revolution.
Dickens was born in Landport, Hampshire in England, February 7, 1812. At the young age of 12, Dickens was forced to work in a blacking factory, giving labels for the bottles of nail polish.
Google doodles are the decorative changes made to the logo of Google, to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists and scientists. The first Google Doodle was created by Larry Page and Sergey Brin Google in 1998 on the occasion of the Burning Man Festival. Google currently has more than 1,000 doodles.
Google also has a special Web site that has more than 1,000 drawings, some of which include behind the scenes look at the creative process, and links to online versions.
